Information strategy on HIV in Belarus was signed and UNAIDS Ambassador appointed for the 2nd European Games 2019.
Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin, a prominent figure skater and television presenter, has been named the Ambassador. As the UNDAIDS ambassador Yagudin will raise awareness of HIV infection and contribute to achievement of Zero Discrimination goal during the European Games in Minsk in June 2019.
The Information Strategy is aimed to develop the media space of the country by 2023, which will help efficiently to lower HIV incidence. The strategy is called to create a social journalist and blogger pool, which will contribute significantly to reducing HIV transmission and allow to reduce stigmatisation of the key communities most vulnerable to HIV infection.

I am sure that his engagement in the efforts aimed at HIV prevention and fight against stigma and discrimination, his appeal to the wide audience of European Games participants and spectators will be an important contribution to achievement of our common goal that is to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030,” said Vinay Saldanha, UNAIDS Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
